On May 12, the First Deputy Chairman of the Korea Uzbekistan Business Association Kim Chang Keon visited of the city hall of Yonsu and held negotiations on the establishment of twin-city relations between the city of Kokand of the Fergana region and the city of Yonsu of the province of Incheon. The meeting was attended by Mr. Ko Nam Seok, Mayor of Yonsu City, Mr. Kim Hyun Joong, Head of the Fund Planning Department, and Mr. Kim Yong Soo, Planning Manager, and during the meeting, the First Vice Chairman of the Association, Kim Jang Kon shared with participants with information about Uzbekistan and the city of Kokand, cooperation relations between Uzbekistan and Korea, cooperation with the city of Incheon and Incheon free economic zone. Ko Nam Sok, Mayor of Yonsu City, introduced the administration of Yonsu City and instructed the relevant officials to expedite the signing of the twinning agreement, as well as familiarize them with various international projects that are planned to be implemented in Yonsu City.
In particular, negotiations were held on preparations for the 5th International Conference of UNESCO Educational Cities, which is scheduled to be held in Yonsu in October this year, and an agreement was reached that Uzbekistan will also take part in this international conference. The World Conference of UNESCO Educational Cities is held every two years in major cities around the world, and this international conference is attended by about 1000 officials from 100 countries. As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to invite participants from Kokand to this international conference in connection with the signing of an agreement on the establishment of twinning relations with the city of Yonsu and the city of Kokand.
